Anthony “Turk” Cannon is a smooth jazz saxophonist born and raised in St. Michaels, Maryland. He started playing the clarinet at the age of 9 years old and later transitioned to the alto saxophone. Anthony studied music at Columbia Community College, Columbia Maryland, and studied with the most influential saxophone instructors in the Baltimore and Washington DC areas. He composes, arranges, and is the executive producer of his original music. Anthony’s original music infuses the rhythms of Blues, R&B, Pop, and Jazz elements.
He started his musical career performing in the late 1990s at open mic jazz clubs and playing as a sideman saxophonist with various jazz and blues band in the Washington DC area and Los Angeles, California. He has performed at the top venues in the country, including Spaghettini’s in Los Angeles CA, Blues Alley in Washington D.C, Avalon Theater in Maryland, The Freeman Pavilion in Selbyville, DE, The Tin Pan in Richmond, VA, NAMM Music Festival in Anaheim CA, and others.
