Aaron Quarterman, Jr. was born in Bensalem, Pennsylvania, where he first started playing the alto saxophone in the 4th grade. Aaron was inspired after listening to Charlie Parker growing up. Aaron attended Bensalem High School and was a part of the Jazz Band for four years.
While performing in the Jazz Band, Aaron was a featured soloist artist. He was awarded Outstanding Soloist for the Cavalcade High School Jazz Competition in 2013. In the same year, Aaron was also selected to play in the Bucks County Music Educators Association County Honors Band.
In October 2017, Aaron won first place at the first annual Sax in the City Competition and Showcase in West Philadelphia. He was also a scholar for the Marion Anderson Historical Society in 2017.
Aaron attended Bucks County Community College and completed his BA at Temple University majoring in Jazz Studies in which he studied with Mr. Ben Schachter. Aaron has also studied with Saturday Night Live Musical Director, Mr. Lenny Pickett. Aaron released his first album two years ago, “Funk Train” titled after his original song. It’s the first of many more to come.
Aaron currently continues to wow people with his performances in Philadelphia, the surrounding suburbs and New Jersey.
