Raised in Philadelphia Pennsylvania, singer, songwriter, director and producer Travis Desean King is no stranger to the music world. Grandson and son of famous jazz legends Shirley Scott Jazz Organist, and JazzdrummerThomas “Ducky” Scott, Travis has performed locally and nationally captivating audiences with his smooth, soulful, versatile sound, crowd engaging performances, and amazing vocal range octaves. Travis Desean Kings musical journey started in the church at the age of seven directing the youth choir. From there, Travis Desean King would later down life’s path be afforded the opportunity and privilege of being offered, and accepting the assistant-director position of Philadelphia’s Premier, award winning Youth and Young Adult Choir and recording artist “Joy Unlimited Youth Mass Choir” founded in 1990 which later was re-birthed as “Joy Unlimited Movement of Philadelphia” A Non-Profit musical organization designed to provide a positive musical outlet for Inner-city youth and young adults regardless of race,ethnicity or creed. Under this musical organization, Travis Desean King’s 11-year tenure of leadership would allow him the privilege and opportunity to be vocally featured on three albums released entitled: “God Is There” (2001), “The “The Trilogy Project” (2010)which Travis wrote and co-produced the song “Thank You” as well as wrote and produced Joy Unlimited’s 1st single entitled “That’s What He’s Done” (2014). The song was later musically remade and featured on Bishop Andrew J Ford & the Anointed Voices of Ford Memorial’s most recent “Live Recording” Project entitled “I Still Believe (2017). Nationally, Travis Desean King is an award-winningdirector being the first director to lead his youth and young adult choir to four consecutive 1st place wins from “2012 to 2015”at the annual McDonalds Gospel Fest Competition held at Prudential Stadium in Newark New Jersey setting a McDonalds Gospel Fest competition record. Within this recognition, McDonalds Gospel Fest selected Travis Desean King to serve as the Choir Director Ambassador of Philadelphiain efforts of gathering singers from all over the city to break the Guinness world record for the world’s largest Gospel choir, which took place at the historic “Newark Symphony Hall” directing “Let the church say amen”. On the gospel music industryside, Travis Desean King has performed with,and sang background vocals for a few known inspirational artists today such as,KirtCarrTye Tribbitt, Jonathan Nelson, JJ Harrison & Youthful Praise, Ernest Pugh, Donald Lawrence, James Hall, Vashawn Mitchell, Charles Jenkins, Lonnie Hunter & Crystal Aikin.For Spiritual Covering Locally, Travis Desean King is the current worship leaderfor the Historic Monumental Baptist Church of West Philadelphia, andco-musical director of theTabernacle Harvest Church of Pottstown Pennsylvania, andthe Ambassador Seed ofLove Churchin North Philadelphia.
